Barrington Court

We visited Barrington Court the same day we visited Montacute House. Barrington Court was defiantly the one I prefered mainly because of the gardens this included a kitchen garden. They were designed by Gertrude Jekkly (I know that's not spelt right) and she defiantly has a style of her own. They could be seen as messy but they were so carefully planted you could see that there was alot of thought put in to it. Also the boarders were kept straight and formal but the plants were left to grow over them, and not everything was pruned into a specific shape, everything was natural, which in my opinion made it work so well. I must note that the statues were very tasteful and suited there position very well. The house had no furniture in but that's because of its history. In a way it was nicer to see because there was no distraction to viewing all the panelling and the amazing woodwork which is throughout the house.

Montacute House

What I loved about this National trust house was the gallery section on the top floor, where the paintings are lent from the The National Portrait Gallery. The Paintings are beautiful and are of monarchs, dukes, lords and ladies, allot of them are very well known, I was surprised they were here not in London. The house itself is nice but nothing memorable, because even now I can't remember a specific thing about the rooms, apart from the paintings.
